Hello.

Thank you for visiting my portfolio website and blog. As a theatre designer and professor, I am used to putting my work in front of an audience. So I hope you enjoy what you see here.

In college, I embraced Richard Wagner’s theory that the theatre, and design, must create myth by immersive illusion. The best design, therefore, transplants us into a world that makes us feel important, puts us in scale with our universe, and highlights our dependency on our expectations for the world around us.

This portfolio and blog are a glimpse into my artistic vision and design process. The portfolio side of this website is focused on showcasing my past work. It contains some of my favorite projects that show my creativity, my dedication to design, and my collaboration with some fantastic artists. The blog side of this website shares my work on current projects and some tutorials for creating traditional design deliverables in the digital medium.

I am a professor of Theatre Design at Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts, and a freelance designer of scenery, lighting, immersive displays, and custom interiors and products.

I hold a Bachelors Degree of Theatre from Averett University in Virginia and a Master of Fine Art in Scenography from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My professional design work experience is in the theatre, a little bit of film and television, commercial exhibits and interiors, and custom fabrication design. While I was trained in traditional art mediums, now I use the digital medium to create my designs and collaborate with colleagues. My workflow is based in SketchUp, V-Ray, Photoshop, and VectorWorks.
